It was an action-packed race, the Singaporean Grand Prix, with Alonso winning the race, Hamilton maintaining his lead in the world championship standings, and Ferrari having a horrible night. As reported earlier, it was Alonso who won the Singaporean Grand Prix. However, several incidents happened during the race changing the course of this grand prix several times.

Starting from pole position, Massa did a perfect start and managed to maintain his lead. Hamilton did great as well, keeping his second position from Kimi’s intense attack. The two of them were involved in an intense battle at the Belgian Grand Prix, and it seemed to continue down to this race. After the first corner, Alonso is in twelfth position already. On the fourth lap, Nico Rosberg committed a spectacular overtaking act, taking Jarno Trulli’s position.
Lap 10, and Massa began to pull away from Hamilton while Raikkonen booked a fastest lap time so far and was closing down on Hamilton real fast. The pressure was on for Hamilton indeed, forcing him to focus more on the road ahead of him and push his McLaren even further. Alonso pitted on lap 12; he was the first driver to pit in. His teammate, Nelson Piquet, hit the side barrier after losing control of his car just three lap after Alonso’s pit stop.

Massa went in for pit on lap 17, but he experienced a truly unfortunate mishaps. The light turned green, indicating it was OK for him to get back to race, but the pit team haven’t remove used fuel hose from Massa’s car. It was a truly horrible incident for both Massa and the Ferrari; Massa dragged the fuel hose with him along the pit lane before stopping at the end of it, waiting for the fuel hose to be removed. The incident cost him a lot of time for sure. Kimi Raikkonen was right behind him, pitting after Massa. The pit team rushed to the end of Marina Bay’s pit lane to remove the fuel hose from Massa’s car. Raikkonen went out filling the 16th place, while Massa had to go down to 18th due to the unfortunate incident. This was the beginning of Ferrari’s series of unfortunate events, with two of their drivers losing both their first and third positions.

Safety car went back in to the pit lane, leaving Nico Rosberg leading the race. Rosberg could not keep his lead for too long though, since he was given a 10-seconds drive through penalty. Along with Kubica, he went in for fuel before race director allowed pit stops during the safety car period. Trulli took the lead, followed by Alonso, Rosberg, Coulthard, and Hamilton. Entering lap 34, Alonso became race leader as Trulli went in for a pit stop. Hamilton was a second slower than Alonso on each lap; his performance was not good.
On lap 41, Alonso went in for another pit stop, followed by Coulthard and Hamilton just one lap after. Coulthard almost experienced the same incident happened to Massa, but he stopped his car immediately and allowed hid pit team to remove the fuel hose.
Another safety car period, this time it was because Adrian Sutil spun and hit the side barrier. Just moments before, Massa hit the same spot after losing control of his car, yet he managed to recover and continue racing. The safety car allowed Hamilton to shortened his gap with Alonso and Rosberg.
It was truly a bad night for Ferrari. Three laps to go, and Kimi Raikkonen hit the curb, damaging his front right suspension. The incident forced him to retire as well. The crowd began to cheer for Alonso, and Hamilton had to be satisfied with his third place.
There is no better feeling than this. F1Zoomwas stunned by the electrifying ambience of Singaporean Grand Prix, and feel truly honored to be able to witness both the first night race in the history of Formula 1 and a spectacular, action-packed, race like tonight. Marina Bay was filled with excitements, and Singaporean Grand Prix was proven to be a spectacular grand prix after all.
