Both Renault and Fernando Alonso did a great job at the Singaporean Grand Prix, winning their first grand prix after a while. Renault see this victory as their proof of capabilities, hoping to keep Alonso in their squad. They are picking up their pace and improving their performance bit by bit. This victory will be their main bargaining aspect to keep Alonso from moving to BMW or Honda next season.

As we all know, both BMW and Honda are offering a spot for Alonso next season. They are promising better cars and great teamwork, and Alonso has not make any decision so far. With the latest victory, and Alonso’s statement that Renault will be his first priority, it is not hard to imagine Alonso staying in Renault next season.

“This (the Singaporean Grand Prix victory) showed Alonso that all team members are serious about winning,” said Renault’s Technical Director Bob Bell, “We are not here to be in between. I hope we did enough to convince Alonso to stay with Renault next season.”

Renault’s main target now is to finish fourth on the constructors championship. They are very serious about their target, and have been doing their best to improve their performances.
